The Prince Charming and Cinderella Boutique was started by the Bevier Community of Christ in December of 2008. The idea came from a church in Kirksville that did clothing donation for 2 weeks before school so people could come get free school clothes. We had a need in this area for clothing so one of our members talked to the other churches in Bevier to see if they would help work a clothing boutique. They all said yes and donated $100 for the start-up. With the money, racks and hangers were purchased. An empty building that had served as a funeral home became the location of our new missionary endeavor. The owners donated the space and said that was their contribution to a worthy cause.
We have people that live in a 50 mile radius take advantage of the boutique. When there is a house fire we have the family come and get clothing if they want. People from all over the area donate clothing. We go thru the clothing and what we can't use I send over to the sheltered workshop in Macon. We also give away a basket of Angel Food each month. We have an average of 20-25 people come in on Saturdays. We are open on Saturdays from 12:00-3:00. All the churches take turn getting volunteers to work on Saturdays.
The owner would like to sell the building where we are now located and we are currently looking for an alternative location.
